CHANGBRIDGE INSIGHT

A Buyer’s Guide to Canadian Peas, Lentils and Fava Beans

Canada is a major origin for pulse crops, but a useful sourcing request must be more specific than the commodity name alone.

State the product specification

Identify the crop, variety or market class, grade, crop year preference, intended use, tolerances, certification needs, and any testing requirements.

Define format and packaging

Clarify whole or split product, cleaned or processed condition, bag size, bulk format, private-label need, and pallet or container expectations.

Share destination and volume

The destination, trial quantity, expected repeat volume, Incoterm preference, and timing all affect which supply options may be realistic.

Allow for crop and market conditions

Availability, quality, and pricing can change with harvest and global demand. A qualified request makes it easier to compare current options fairly.
